Creating conversation pieces from yesterday's materials. All items are made from recycled felted wool sweaters.

Look At Me Designs was started in late 2003 by two busy moms with a creative flair and a love of fashion. With five daughters between their two families, both women felt strongly about using recycled materials in their designs and creating eco-friendly products. Their goal is to create today's conversation pieces using yesterday's materials.

Under the Microscope: Christy Puetz and Diana Grygo (aka the Lone Beader) (September 04 2009 thru September 26)

Under the Microscope, an exhibition of beaded objects and images by artists Christy Puetz and Diana Grygo (aka the Lone Beader). This is the first solo show in the Boston area for Christy and Diana, contemporary bead artists.

The show's title refers to the way in which one views beadwork, under close inspection. The artist Christy Puetz uses extensive symbolism and repetitive patterns often referring to biological or microbial images in her beadwork. Christy has created numerous 3-d Chickens to spotlight the connection between hosts and the spread of disease. Christy's chickens repel and compel us to examine them closer. They are meticulously covered with gorgeous beadwork symbolizing some of our germ phobias.

Diana Gyrgo (aka the Lone Beader) takes inspiration for her riotous bead embroidery from both life experiences and fantasy. Diana uses images of the quintessential American car to celebrate the freedom of the road. Diana's landscapes are populated with people she knows and would like to know. Her constant companion is the dog, ever faithful and ready for adventure. Diana's meticulous bead embroidery invites the viewer to enter her very colorful world and examine it closely.

Bead + Fiber celebrates its one year anniversary with this exhibition. Come check it out!
